It's strange that it's during an economic downturn that people have a lot of free time and it's during the good times that people spend long hours doing what other people want them to do. Isn't this backwards?

Josh— The Romans of classical times had a similar problem with unemployment. As dictator, Caesar passed reform legislation limiting the latidundia from hiring too many slaves. The thinking was this would create job opportunities for "freed" men.
