Has anyone seen my phone?

Lost: cheap, stupid Sanyo phone. Last seen Friday, probably while at work but maybe while at home. Hasn't responded to calls since becoming lost. Disappearance unusual and baffling.

No reward for capture—owner now contemplating whether a phone is really all that necessary.

I have created the following soundtrack for your phone woes:

1. Lady Gaga - Telephone
2. Cake - No Phone
3. Blondie - Call Me
4. REM - Star 69
5. Beatles - You Know My Name (Look up the Number)
6. Destiny's Child - Bugaboo
7. Tommy Tutone - 8675309 (Jenny)
8. No Doubt - Spiderwebs
9. Stevie Wonder - I Just Called to Say I Love You
10. Weird Al - Don't Go Making Phony Calls

B Sides (Honorable Mentions):
1. Counting Crows - Raining in Baltimore
2. Billy Joel - Laura
3. Barenaked Ladies - Call and Answer
(sidenote: BNL's crazy ABC's has the lyric "F is for fohn, but not like when I call the ladies")
4. Bye Bye Birdie - Telephone Hour
5. Beatles - No Reply

JEC, first of all, the response from NEL has to be the greatest response to a post I have ever seen in my life. Just fantastic. Your abbreviated response to that response was also choice. Well played. Now, to my response to your post...I do not believe you need a phone, I have a definition of need that differs from many, but probably doesn't differ so much from how you would define it (in my estimation of what I think you would think, as underinformed as we both know that to be). I do however WANT you to have a phone, it is a handy way for me to get in touch with you when needed...it is also a nice alternative to be able to reach NEL in the event that her phone may be inoperable for some reason. Please take this into consideration when making your final phone or no phone decision. Lastly I'll add that I have a handful of used blackberry phones in my office, depending on your cell service provider one may be useable for you, if so it will be yours free of charge -- the catch is that you'd have to come to my office and figure out if it worked for you etc.

Bobby et al.— You're absolutely right: of course I don't need a phone. Billions of people worldwide are doing OK without one. And thanks for offering me a used one; I'll consider it.
